Sultry, Nude, and Tattooed; The Pontani Sisters Knock the Sox off the Corio Crowd

This weekend I saw This is Burlesque, a stunning burlesque show at downtown club called Corio here in New York. The headliners were a ravishing trio of vivacious vixens called The Pontani Sisters. The sisters, Angie Pontani, Helen Pontani, and their newest addition, the lovely Peekaboo Pointe, did a series of glittery, jaw dropping, tassel twirling, dance numbers and stripteases that were super erotic and just so much fun! Their glitzy and glamorous style infused with just plain naughtiness captured the feeling of 1920's prohibition-era gin joints and swing clubs to the point where the experience almost felt illegal; I loved every second of it.
What stood out beyond the nakedness and playful comedic shtick was the sheer talent of these performers; one in particular was Helen Pontani who did a killer ragtime tap-dance routine that would have stolen Savion Glover's heart right out of his shoes. Another treat was the vocal stylings of 'Sexy Chanteuse' Melody Sweets; imagine the flare and poise of Betty Paige plus the gentle comfort and bluesy seduction of Norah Jones.

The show was an exhilaratingly good time and it was just so refreshing to watch gorgeous women take their clothes off in an entirely non-explotive performance. I personally feel that modern burlesque performers such as The Pontani Sisters are re-empowering the neo-feminist movement by reclaiming their sensuality and sexual pride in a truly dignified art form.

Buy tickets online here or over the phone at (212) 966-3901. If you have kids hire a sitter because there's lots of nakedness !
